According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, babies should get checkups at birth, 3-5 days after birth, and 1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, and 24 months. Following the 24th month, your child can begin visiting the pediatrician once or twice a year, unless any illnesses arise.
A child’s diet should mainly consist of healthy proteins, fruits, vegetables, grains, and dairy, while limiting sugars and saturated and trans fat. The amount of each your child consumes per day depends on size and age. Each meal should also be balanced with each food group. For more information on your child’s diet, you can visit the American Academy of Pediatrics’ website, or contact Dr. Bair.
The truth is, all children are different and mature at different paces. Some mature quickly, and others mature slowly and steadily. If you have concerns about your child’s maturation, ask Dr. Bair for assistance.
